The Conference

Improve Your Game.

Thank you for a great 2015.  We will announce the next conference date when we know it.

No talks.  This is a new kind of Christian game developer conference for the East coast.  This is about taking you and your game to a higher level.

Intimate. Thoughtful. Valuable.
And with Roller Coasters.

How it Works

By yourself you’re unprotected.  With a friend you can face the worst. Can you round up a third? A three-stranded rope isn’t easily snapped. Ecclesiastes 4:12, MSG

Attendees register themselves and their game.  The game must be at least at the playable prototype stage.

Attendees are split into three person squads.  Over three sessions, each squad spends 4 hours in a deep dive with two other Christian game developers who are in their shoes.  These are people who know the “cost” when recommending a change.  Even better, these are people with an outsider’s perspective.  This is your opportunity to ask critical design questions, ask for help on sections that “aren’t fun”, talk through a problem, brainstorm, anything you want.  The other two squad members are there to bring their experience and help your project as much as they can.  Then you switch.

(This is the reason your game must be at least playable and ready for feedback, otherwise there is nothing for your squad mates to do.)

Our hope is the three person squads last beyond the conference with ongoing discussion/relationship of Christian indies helping each other.  A three strand chord is not easily broken.

Schedule

Thursday (Day #0)

This is the arrival night.  Try to arrive by 7pm to join in to the ice breaker LAN party.

  • 6pm – 7pm Dinner at hotel restaurant
    • optional for attendees who are present, cost not included
  • 7pm – 10pm LAN Party Icebreaker – Call of Duty 2
  • Night 1 — (Included)

Friday (Day #1)

  • 8am – 9am Breakfast at hotel restaurant (Included)
  • 9am – 1pm Deep Dive #1
  • 1pm – 2pm Lunch at hotel restaurant (Included)
  • 2pm – 6pm Deep Dive #2
  • 6pm – late City Walk / Universal Islands of Adventure / Universal Studios
    • We’ll take the shuttle to the Universal theme parks to take in the restaurants, arcade, midway, movie theater, and rides.  Ride the dueling roller coaster with other indie game developers.
    • (Park pass optional, food and beverage not included)
  • Night 2 - (Included)

Saturday (Day #2)

  • 8am – 9am Breakfast at hotel restaurant (Included)
  • 9am – 1pm Deep Dive #3
  • 1pm – 2pm Lunch at hotel restaurant (Included)
  • 2pm – 3pm Game Expo
    • Each attendee has the opportunity to show their current game project to the rest of the attendees.  This way everyone to see games that weren’t in their squad.
  • 3pm – 5pm Most Valuable Lesson
    • Everyone brings different experiences to making games.  Each attendee has 20 minutes to share a tip, trick, technique, process they feel will be valuable to other devs (as technical or high level as you desire.  Think TedX meets small group bible study)
  • 5pm – 7pm Dinner at hotel restaurant (Not included)
    • A casual meal as we wrap up the conference and people leave for home.
  • Night 3 - (Not Included)

Sunday (Optional)

  • 10am – 11am Gamer Church
    • For those still around we will have a unique worship experience: Church Gameified.

  • Located 2 miles from Universal theme parks.
  • Special pricing available for theme park tickets.
  • There is no official airport shuttle service, we will pick you up if needed.
  • Check in 4pm.  Check out 11am.
  • King or Double Queen Guest room.
    • (Double queen room has a refrigerator, King room does not.)
  • Internet included.
